Yesterday I wrote about an award I was nominated for, and it got me thinking about the whole awards process. It is an unfortunate fact that such award contests tend to come down to little more than a popularity contest. The person that can garnish the most votes isn't necessarily the one that's really the most worthy, though I'm sure all nominees go home in the end just glad they were nominated in the first place.
But there are so many unsung heroes out there, and I've decided to go ahead and award them for certain things that make them unique in the bloggy world.
Best Blog Buddy award goes to Jacki of Moving at the Speed of Life, one of the friendliest and most interactive bloggers I've come across. Make her your friend and she'll never let you down.
I can't visit The More, The Messier without craving a Creamsicle.
Jane of What About Mom? is surely the biggest Mountain Dew fan there is. She once described drinking one warm in the grocery store parking lot after a particularly strong craving and said it was like drinking a lemon meringue pie. And she met Dooce, which has nothing to do with Mountain Dew, but thought I'd mention it anyway. Jane was in my playgroup in Florida, and she's the one that got me to broaden my bloggy horizons in the first place.
Jeff of View From the Cloud was agape when he learned that I'm related to Dan Blocker, the guy that played Hoss. He also mentioned he'd never been nominated for anything in three years of blogging. Well Jeff, you didn't just get nominated, you won! How does it feel?
If I were an alien and had to choose a blogger to abduct, I'd pick Bee of Bee's Musings. Not only would she be an interesting subject for study, she'd blog about it later and people would have no idea if she was kidding or not. She'd probably take the whole anal probe thing to another level too.
There are a lot of perverted bloggers out there, sure. But Old Knudsen is the quintessential dirty old man and isn't afraid to say so. But he's also perverted in a perfectly acceptable, relatively inoffensive way.
There are a lot of good ex-patriate bloggers out there, but alas I can only honor those that I read. We have Lilac Specs, an American in Belgium; Debbie, an American in Japan; Dumdad, a Brit in France; and my brother, a Martian fugitive on Earth.
Maybe "perky" isn't quite the right word. The Playful Professional is the most positive blogger I know of, always looking at the bright side of life and seeing glasses half full. Maybe it's just because she doesn't have kids yet, time will tell.
The prestigious Greenest Hair award goes to Psychicgeek, who has more green hair than anyone I know. She swears it's dye, but I think it has more to do with the psychic waves radiating from her head. Or maybe it's ectoplasm?
And last but not least, the Most Flatulent Blogger is without a doubt Mr. Farty of Better Oot Than In. Take a bow Mr. Farty!
Enjoy your awards, they make excellent pen cups and spitoons!

Memarie,
Ooo, how lovely! Thanks very much.
Hope you enjoy your stay at Ordinary Days.
Oh thank you! And darn, I don't even have my acceptance speech ready. But I'll wing it....
"...I'd like to thank my daughter Emma, who usually sleeps past 8, giving me time to blog...and I'd like to thank all the companies out there that won't hire me, giving me more time to blog...."
Ooh shinies! Thanks Marie! Much appreciated.
Why thank you! Ironically, I don't even like orange. But for some reason, it seems to go with my blog.
I never did like Creamsicles, though...
Now that's alot of hardware all in one place.
Thanks for the mention, Marie!
Though there might be nothing like a nomination for "Biggest Mountain Dew Fan" to get someone to rethink their goals and aspirations. Except, it's comforting to know that I can probably live up to that all the rest of my days without too much effort.
I'm glad you broadened your bloggy horizons. I enjoy you so much, in all your incarnations.
Thanks for making me feel smaller Marie! ha ha. I nominated myself for Least Nominated Blog but promptly lost due to the nomination...
The rest of these are very deserving of those awards though.
This is awesome! I'm honored.
Thanks Marie, I'll proudly display my golden chalice next week.
And yes, I was agape... and still am!
I feel like I've been to the golden globes or something equally as shiny.
Nice fun
So, there I was drinking some water, minding my own business or maybe I was making fun of somebody, not really sure, my days are always jam packed full of fun, anyway, I read this and laughed until I had no more air in any part of my bod. None. It was all gone.
Thank you! ;o)
VE- I only didn't award you b/c you share my aversion to buttons. Maybe I should have made you a Least Likely to Post a Button button?
Thanks so much... I just barely found this and am very grateful for the award. I'm glad that I can hopefully share my optimism with others :) And like you said... maybe just until I have kids!!
