Don't Miss The Last Sentence

I know, I know..How dare I let four days go by without posting!

Anyway, Hubs is finally home from his little vacation...or "business trip" as he likes to call it in his secret code. To me, anything that includes hottubs, swimming pools, brewery tours, museum trips and cable tv is a vacation. Who cares if it also includes a little 8 hours stretch of working in an office each day. It's still a vacation to me.

Moving on...He got back just in time for Future to have an all night puke-fest. When Hubs woke me up to join in the festivities, I gently declined. I let him know that I'd had my fill of this kind of partying for the past two weeks and I'd let him attend this gala all on his own while I did something I like to give the code name of "sleep". I know, I'm an evil ungrateful wife and an uncaring, cold-hearted mother...yada, yada, yada....

This morning I took Big Boy along with me to the dentist's office so we could get our teeth cleaned. I'm so proud of the little booger! Nice shiney teeth and zero cavaties. Now, I, on the other hand, have five cavaties. I'll need four fillings and a crown! And I have to switch to a fancy flouride toothpaste that costs $15 a tube. Breaks caught by me: Zero.

That solo adventure I mentioned is looking better and better as each day goes by. I think I have settled on researching a few close by hotels and B&Bs. I'm thinking something with a great day spa, a heated pool and fancy room service might just fit the bill.

And to leave you on a happier note, here is how Monkey and I spent our afternoon a few days back. Big Boy was at school and Future was sleeping.

We filled one side of the sink with just a little water and a ton of soap. I swished it around with my hands for a bit until it almost overflowed with bubbles. Then I gave Monkey some spoons, pulled a chair up to the counter for him to stand on, and let him go to town. I took the pictures before we added a bowl full of water (so the faucet wouldn't continuously run), a colander to collect his bubbles and a few measuring cups to make scooping all the more exciting. He had a great time and I think we may have found a new way to satisfy his unending curiosity.

Any other ideas for busy, busy, busy two year olds? Or perhaps other options that seem equally as satisfying as kicking a relative in the teeth when they ask if you've considered Ritalin for said two-year-old?

Oy. Then you could give Future a valium to get him to sleep through the night!

Baking is one activity that I know will keep my kids occupied--I either let them help me by adding ingredients and stirring the batter or spooning the dough out, or I let them use extra ingredients and make their own "recipes" using whatever is around. And when the baking is done, there is a tasty treat to be eaten!

If my cold water line wasn't frozen, I'd do this today! Great idea!

And really, nobody gives Ritalin to a 2 year old! Sheesh, most of us use tranquilizer darts!
